Green Valley Lake Summer Vacation Away From The Crowds

Updated: Jun 3, 2019

Green Valley Lake is a quaint town in the San Bernardino Mountains, located less than two hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Riverside. With fewer than 300 full time residents, it’s easy to relax and explore this mountain paradise. Green Valley Lake is also home to many wonderful activities.

5 Things To Do Away From The Hustle and Bustle

Green Valley Lake Beach

Swim

The GVL Beach provides calm water, and beautiful views to all swimmers, young and old! You can also take part in a round of beach volleyball with friends or family, while the little ones enjoy the beach playground- complete with swing set! Forgot your volleyball? Don’t worry, Eagle Cabins provides one for your stay. Visit the Green Valley Lake Recreation for more information on swim passes.

Fishing from the edge of GVL

Fish

With thousands (yes, thousands!) of pounds of fish stocked regularly, plus 100-200 pounds of Trophy sized fish, the Lake is the perfect place to fish whether you are experienced, or a newbie. So far this year 7,200 lbs of fish have been stocked in Green Valley Lake by Jess Ranch and the state. Stop by the boat house to pick up a fishing license, or across the street at the General Store you can buy all your favorite kinds of bait! If you don't have your own fishing gear it is available for rent.

Paddle boards lined up near the Boathouse

Boat

The Boat House, resting on the edge of the Lake, rents out dozens of non motorized boats! From paddle boats, to paddle boards, rowboats, kayaks, and canoes, there is a perfect choice for anyone. Want to get the best of both worlds? Rent your favorite boat for fishing out on the Lake! Green Valley Lake is an easy half mile walk from Eagle Lodge, and 1 mile from Eagle Cabin.

Towering pines on Deer Trail

Hiking

Green Valley Lake offers tons of hiking trails, but the local favorite is the 2N19, up in the woods towards Fawnskin. Enjoy four miles of the occasional critter, abundant wild flowers and local shrubbery, and breathtaking views. Stop and scratch the bark of a few trees and you may just come across a vanilla pine! Hiking trails around the Green Valley Lake campground are a short walk from Eagle Lodge and Eagle Cabin.

Living & Dining at the Eagle Cabin

Relax

You’re on vacation, and it’s time to relax. Enjoy the calm, mountain serenity of Green Valley Lake. Take a peaceful walk around the lake, read a book enjoying fresh mountain air, relax on a hammock at Eagle Cabin under towering pines, and see what it feels like to #GVLLikeaLocal. Summer, Spring, Fall, or Winter, any time is relaxation time here!

So as you can see, even the quaintest of towns can provide everything you need for your next vacation, whether you are looking for a large family retreat, or a more intimate setting. Visit gvleaglecabins.com to book the perfect location for your next getaway.
